A 4-H camp chaperone is an approved 4-H adult volunteer at least twenty-one (21) years of age. The chaperone works in partnership with teen staff to develop and deliver activities at camp. The chaperone is also responsible for the safety and well-being of the campers.
Prior 4-H Camp experience is not required. If you are not a current 4-H adult volunteer, you will need to complete the online enrollment and volunteer requirements below:
- Enroll in the 4-H online enrollment system https://4h.zsuite.org/
- Complete the volunteer interest form
- Complete a background check. A live Scan form will be sent to you once you have completed the volunteer interest form.
- Complete the online new volunteer training.
- Enrollment and accident/insurance fee $35.00 payable to Tehama County Council.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 old and complete the 4-H volunteer requirements for the 2024-2025 program year.
- Must have the desire and ability to work with youth.
- Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Available to attend through the duration of camp.

Expectations:
- Attend at least two (2) camp planning meetings.
- Responsible for the safety and well-being of campers and teen staff.
- Assist teen staff with campers.
- Partner with teen staff to oversee camp activities.
- Assist teen staff with delivery of camp activities if needed, including areas.
- Help with additional camp jobs and duties as needed.
- Adult Chaperones are encouraged to dress-up and participate in the staff hunt.
