Applications for the 2025 Training Class MUST be submitted by

Thank you for your interest in the Marin Master Gardeners Program. Before you begin this application, please review "Volunteering in the UC Master Gardener Organization" below.  After reviewing this list you will be able to answer question 14.

Please complete the following application, read the information at the bottom, and click the "Submit" button.    

If you need to edit your application, click the "Submit" button, and you will be provided with a link to your application where you can edit your responses no later than Friday, August 30, 2024.


Please respond to all questions in the boxes provided (the boxes will expand as you type).
Please be thorough; the information you provide will be used to select applicants to be interviewed for openings in the training class.

Please carefully consider the requirements of the program described toward the end of this Application.

Applications must be submitted by Friday, August 30, 2024.

Acknowledgment of Requirements

If accepted into the UC Master Gardener Training Program in Marin, Trainees must:

                  1. Pay a non-refundable fee of $395 (includes most textbooks). Scholarships are available.
                  2. Submit fingerprints to the Marin County Sheriff.
                  3. Agree to and sign the UC Volunteer Code of Conduct.
                  4. Attend all Training Program classes (18 weeks.)
                  5. Complete and submit all homework assignments.
                  6. Complete the Garden Planning Project.
                  7. Complete a group research project, including a short presentation. 
                  8. Complete the open-book final examination with a score of 70 percent or better.
                  9. By June 30, 2026 (a year after graduation), complete and report at least 50 volunteer hours including one shift at an MMG Farmers Market; and at least 4 hours to each of three other volunteer projects.

Information on this form is being requested under the authority of the Smith-Lever Act of 1914 covering Cooperative Extension activities and Article IX, Section 9 of the State of California Constitution covering the University of California. Ethnic information is requested to maintain compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and sex information is requested to maintain compliance with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. Statistical information on this form is being collected to satisfy the U.S. Department of Agriculture Extension Service reporting requirements for Affirmative Action and the Federal Affirmative Action Program Report. Statistical information includes sex, ethnic information and residence location. Submission of the above noted information is voluntary and if the information is not submitted by the source, the county master gardener staff may use his or her judgment to complete the information and satisfy Federal reporting requirements. Other personal information on this form is being collected to provide the County Extension Master Gardener staff with information to assist in program planning. This information consists of name, address, phone and email in addition to your skill set assessment.
