Sonoma County 4-H Summer Camp provides an outdoor setting for group living where young people gain a deeper understanding of their relationships to their fellow human and the natural environment. The core of the Sonoma County 4-H camp education program is to empower young people to share as partners in decision making, camp planning and implementation, and camp leadership on a day-to-day basis. Campers take part in all the classic summer camp activities- hiking, arts and crafts, skits and songs around the campfire. Camp is run by teens, called "staffers," who start meeting in the fall to organize all the aspects of camp- everything from the food to the themes for the events.  There is one teen staffer to every five youth (called campers).  There are, of course, adult chaperones there as well (one for every ten campers) and a nurse on staff. 

Camp 1 will be held at Camp Tamarancho Boy Scout Camp, central Marin County, Fairfax CA. Located in the heart of beautiful Marin County, this scenic year-round camp property is located just two miles uphill from Sir Francis Drake Blvd outside Fairfax village. Camp Tamarancho has over 412 acres of grassy meadows, oak- and madrone-covered knolls, and redwood-forest canyons along Fairfax Ridge with amazing views of the North Bay stretching from Mt. Camp 2 will be held at The Mendocino Woodlands. Located within traditional Pomo territory near the village site Bu’ldam, Mendocino Woodlands National Historic Landmark State Park is a year-round group camping facility and environmental education center nestled in the heart of the Redwood Forest, just Northeast of the town of Mendocino. Camp Dates & Chaperone Registration Deadline

Chaperone Eligibility

Chaperones must be 21 years of age and complete the enrollment process required to be a 4-H Leader which includes fingerprinting.

They must complete First Aid and CPR training. 

Fees

• 4-H enrollment fee of $33.00. Camp will be covering each chaperone's camp enrollment fee.

• Step 3: Go to live scan and get fingerprinted link for the form to give them is on the instructions for new leaders.

• Step 5: First Aid and CPR training are required to be a Chaperone.  Please visit the web site https://ucanr.edu/sites/safety/files/95934.pdf to complete a FREE training program.  You must complete both First Aid and CPR pages and take both tests.  You do not need to spend money to buy the certificate just print out your test results and sign them and mail or email them to the 4-H office.
