2024 Marin County 4-H - Adult Chaperone Application & Registration

Thank you for your registering to be an adult chaperone at the 2024 Marin County 4-H Camp. This year's camp will be at Shady Creek Outdoor school and event center in Nevada City from July 20 to July 27 - we cannot wait!

CAMP DATES: July 20 - July 27, 2024

LOCATION: Shady Creek Outdoor school and event center in Nevada City, CA

ADULT FEES: 

  • $100 no matter the length of stay.
  • $45 additional for Camp Sweatshirt (optional)

Camp fees include a camp t-shirt and a camp picture (sweatshirt not included).

PAYMENT FOR ADULT CHAPERONES - SUBMIT BY CHECK:

  • Adult Chaperone's are requested/encouraged to pay by check.
  • Checks should be made out to "Marin County 4-H Camp" and sent to the following:

PAYMENT FOR ADULT CHAPERONES - SUBMIT BY CREDIT CARD:

  • Credit cards will include a $19 processing fee. 

REFUNDS: Last day to request a refund is May 15, 2024.      

ADULT CHAPERONE REQUIREMENTS PRIOR TO CAMP:

  1. Online 4-H Camp Application submitted (below- scroll down).
  2. Camp fee paid.
  3. Enrolled as Adult 4-H Volunteer (if not already for 2024).
  4. Fingerprinting completed and cleared.
  5. Online adult volunteer training completed.

DETAILED REGISTRATION STEPS:

  • Step 1 (All): Complete the Adult Application below by May 15 (Below. Scroll down past these instructions). 
  • Step 2 (All): Submit payment by CHECK (preferred) to the address below, or credit card online during registration.

  • Step 3 (ONLY if not currently enrolled as Adult Volunteer):
    • Enroll as 4-H Adult Volunteer.
    • Complete Fingerprinting (LiveScan).
    • Complete online 4-H adult volunteer training.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION RE STEP #3 ABOVE (adults not currently enrolled in 2024 as 4-H adult volunteers):

Adults are not allowed to attend camp in any capacity until (1) fingerprinting is completed and cleared (LiveScan), and (2) the adult volunteer online training has been completed.

After submitting the Volunteer Application (below), you are not done! You will receive a follow-up email with additional steps/instructions for 1) NEW volunteers and 2) RETURNING volunteers from last year, 2023. Please reach out to Martha in the 4-H Office with any questions or if you need assistance on completing these steps (mrtmartinez@ucanr.edu). 

  1. Enroll as 4-H Adult Volunteer: https://4h.zsuite.org/. Create a family profile, if you do not have one. Add a new adult. Select Unit "Marin County 4-H Camp" on ZSuite.
  2. State-Mandated Online Training. Adults are not allowed to work with youth or attend camp until it is completed. Required for both new and returning 2023 Volunteers.
    • 2023 Volunteer: If you completed the adult training last year, you will need to complete a short (30 minute) update to attend camp. Please see the registration email for more information on training. 
    • Not a Volunteer in 2023: If you did not volunteer last year or complete the adult training, please do so as soon as possible. Please see the registration email for more information on training. 
    • Questions: If you have any questions about the training, please contact the 4-H office or the Camp Clerk at the below email address.
  3. Fingerprinting & Background Check: Live Scan-with the CA Dept of Justice.

Marin County 4-H Camp Rules

 

  1. Be polite and considerate of all the participants at camp. No pushing, tripping or hitting. No throwing rocks, food, or any other items.
  2. Sexual harassment is never permitted. The use of racial, sexual, or religious slurs are prohibited at Camp.
  3. Displays of affection between participants are prohibited
  4. Respect the authority of adult supervisors.
  5. Respect the Camp facility; property of other campers and do not disturb it.
  6. Respect and protect the wildlife at Camp.
  7. No firecrackers, fireworks, slingshots, guns, or knives are allowed at Camp. Practice safety at all times.
  8. Preserve our camp atmosphere – do not bring alarm clocks, hair dryers, curling irons, junk food, drinks, radios, MP3 Players, headphones, electronic games, or cell phones.
  9. Respect the camp schedule, be on time, and always stay with the tribe or program to which you are assigned.
  10. Closed toe shoes are required at all times. 
  11. You may leave camp if it is necessary, after notifying the Camp Supervisor.
  12. Hikers require notification of Nature/Hike Leader; must sign out/in, and must be accompanied by at least one other adult. Long pants, socks, and sturdy shoes will be worn on all hikes.
  13. The possession and use of alcoholic beverages and drugs (other than prescription medication) is prohibited. Note:  This will result in immediate dismissal.
  14. Practice safety: walk (do not run), stay on trails, or approved areas.
  15. Parking lot is off limits. No loitering or using vehicles while at camp without Camp Supervisor approval.
  16. Per 4-H policy, Section 819, the person and property of all 4-H Youth Development Program (YDP) participants (both youth and adult) are subject to search during the course of 4-H YDP events if deemed necessary by 4-H YDP appointed volunteers and/or staff.
