MFP Speaker Request

Request a Speaker

UC Master Food Preservers of Orange County (MFPOC) are trained and certified by the University of California, Agriculture and Natural Resources Division, to teach research-based practices of safe home food preservation to the residents of California.

In exchange for the training and materials received from the University, Master Food Preservers volunteer their time to share this information with the public at various locations throughout Orange County.

What we offer to requestors (on-site presentations):

  • A Presenter who can discuss and demonstrate a specific method of food preservation. This may possibly involve preparing a recipe, if the facility has the proper equipment.
  • A Presenter who will speak on a requested topic, bring samples to show, and possibly share a PowerPoint presentation, if desired, providing equipment is available.
  • A general food preservation/food safety presentation can also be covered, if that is desired.

Some Guidelines:

  • We request 60-days notice in advance of your event.
  • We are unable to schedule any speaking events during the months of July and August.
    • This is because we have a long-standing commitment to the Orange County Fair during its entire run each summer, which requires the participation of most of our members.
  • Master Food Preservers do not charge for their services. Organizations that pay honorariums may write a check payable to the Regents of the University of California (UC Regents).  The speaker will accept the check.
    • Funds support your local Orange County Master Food Preservers.

To request a speaker, fill out the short survey form, then “Save Survey Information” at the bottom, which will send us your request.

Once we receive your request, we will review it and someone will contact you via email.
