Lambing School 2026

 

When: January 16-18, 2025

Hours: 
Friday, January 16: 12pm-4pm
Saturday, January 17: 8am-4pm
Sunday, January 18: 8am-12pm

Where:
UC Hopland Research and Extension Center. 4070 University Road, Hopland, CA 95449.

Accommodation: Limited low cost accommodation available for additional cost (shared bunkhouse $20/person/night, private 2 bedroom cottage $75/night). Contact hbird@ucanr.edu to find out more. 

Description:
Join UC Davis Sheep and Goat Extension Veterinarian, Dr. Rosie Busch, and UC Hopland Research and Extension Center Shepherd, Alison Smith, for an in-depth, real-time look at barn and pasture lambing systems.
Over the course of three days, we'll provide real-time information about managing lambing systems, including lambing problems, lamb/ewe nutrition, record-keeping, and lamb survival.
Limited to 15 participants.

Cost:
Flexible pricing to suit your budget from $190-$250. One scholarship available. Scholarship applications close on Friday, December 12.

Optional starter lambing kit available at additional cost of $250 if registering before December 12.

This class would suit:
Small flock owners. Those who have some experience of lambing or are beginning to work with sheep. Those who work with larger flocks and are involved in the breeding cycle. Information will be particularly relevant to those with flocks in Northern California, especially Mendocino, Sonoma, Humboldt Counties.

PAYMENT - Full class cost is $250 per person. Equity pricing from $190-$250 allows you to make a payment that suits your budget. Scholarships are available.
