Public Education 241026 Let’s Get Composting!

Reduce what is sent to the landfill by turning your kitchen scraps and yard waste into garden gold! Whether you live in an apartment or on a large, rural property, Amador County Master Gardeners will cover practical ways to begin composting at home. In this informative class we will demonstrate different compost methods, along with instruction on how to build, maintain and harvest your compost pile. 

Objectives:

  • Why home composting is important
  • What can be composted
  • How to use compost, along with its benefits
  • Examples of different composting methods and how they work
  • Tips, suggestions and methods designed to guarantee success

Logistics:

This class will be held outside and in-person at the Community Garden.  Please bring the following:

  1. Your own chair if needed—there is no extra seating for this class
  2. Hat and sunscreen
  3. Water and your own snacks if needed This is a free public class.
