State 4-H Computer Coding Project 2022-2023

Offered by the State 4-H STEM Education Advisory Committee

California 4-H youth members (age 9 to 18) are invited to apply to join the state 4-H computer coding project meeting from September 2022 to May 2023.

Target Age: Junior and intermediate 4-H members (9 to 13 years old; although fine for older youth, too).

Location: Zoom

Two Projects: 

  1. Beginners (MIT Scratch): First Saturday 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Scratch is a block-based visual programming language aimed at children aged 8 to 16.
    Dates to include: September 3, October 1, November 5, December 3, January 7, February 4, March 4, April 1, May 6 + (optional) State 4-H Coding Challenge, May 27 @ State 4-H Field Day. 

      
  2. Beginners to Intermediate (Python): Third Saturday 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Python is a high-level, general-purpose programming language emphasizing code readability with significant indentation. Dates to include: September 17, October 15, November 19, December 17, January 21, February 18, March 18, April 15, May 20 + (optional) State 4-H Coding Challenge, May 27 @ State 4-H Field Day.
